Sergio García featured in El Economista!

The founding partner of Qualitas Funds, Sergio García, analyses the evolution of private equity in 2024 and shares his vision for 2025.

In the annual private equity review of El Economista’s Issue Nº 63 from December 31st, 2024, Sergio García, founding partner of Qualitas Funds, shared his insights on the key changes in the sector during 2024 and his vision for 2025. In the article, he highlighted how 2024 was characterized by high interest rates, which impacted valuations and slowed exits, leading to a reduction in distributions by funds. However, despite these challenges, Sergio expressed an optimistic vision for 2025, emphasizing how the sector is showing signs of recovery and adapting to the new market conditions.

Sergio pointed out that this situation has not been uniform across the market. The upper segment, more reliant on debt, was hit harder by rising interest rates compared to the mid and lower segments. Additionally, IPOs significantly declined, heavily affecting the exits of large funds, which represent the majority of the market and set the overall trend.

Despite these challenges, Sergio noted signs of recovery in the sector. The increase in dry powder has started to reactivate operations, and for the first time, sales between GPs have surpassed those to industrial buyers, marking. These dynamics indicate a market that is adjusting to new conditions and positioning itself to capitalize on the opportunities 2025 will bring.

With these perspectives and an industry in constant evolution, we start 2025 reaffirming our commitment to providing products that offer peace of mind and solid returns for our investors.
